But health professionals caution that besides the favorable weather, deteriorating air quality is taking center stage as a major issue of concern. Reports suggest that the winter conditions tend to seal the pollutants near the ground, raising the level of exposure in the whole city. Though the weather allows continuing with the daily activity, there is an invisible threat of the polluted air that is constantly increasing especially to the vulnerable population.
Winter Comfort Overshadowed by Air Pollution Risk for Children
The quality of air in Dhaka is unhealthy despite good winter weather. Healthcare experts warn that respiratory illnesses, asthma, and a lack of immunity in youngsters are likely to be triggered by a greater air pollution risk during winter. Pollution and cold air predisposes the young lungs to long-term health problems; hence, parents are urged to take measures.
