Cox’s Bazar, Jan 19, 2026, A massive fire broke out late Monday night in the Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar. The blaze started at around 3:20 a.m. local time at a learning centre operated by an NGO in Block D-4, Camp 16, Shafiullah Katra.
The fire spread quickly due to the densely packed shelters, putting hundreds of lives at risk.
Fire Service Brings Blaze Under Control
Local fire service teams rushed to the scene and battled the flames through the night. After nearly four hours, the fire was brought under control at 7:50 a.m., preventing further damage. Officials confirmed that emergency teams are monitoring the area to ensure safety.
