According to the 2025 Global Passport Index released by Arton Capital, a timeline has been set in the year 2025 where the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will resume its former status of possessing the strongest passport in the world. The perpetuated dominance of UAE can be explained by its powerful diplomatic machine, financial stability and a long-term strategic initiative to expand global access to its citizens. At the same time, Bangladesh has shown impressive progress, driven by the fact that it has extended its diplomatic reach and developed its economic role. Singapore, Spain and some European countries have also been advanced thus remaking the competitive landscape of the global travel entitlement. Overall, the index highlights the cause and effect relationship in regard to diplomacy, stability and economic influence on determining passport power.

UAE Retains the World’s Most Powerful Passport

The United Arab Emirates has been able to sustain its record success through holding the top spot in the Global Passport Index by the seventh consecutive year. The strong foreign relations, investment policy regime, and growing influence on the global arena have positively reflected on Emirati nationals who are now enjoying visa-free entry to 179 jurisdictions. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent collapse of international mobility the world over, the UAE strengthened its position, whilst the accessibility of dozens of other passports was reduced. Its extensive foreign policy, economic diversification, and foreign policy alliances have guaranteed that as of 2025, the UAE will be irreplaceable in terms of intercontinental mobility.

Bangladesh Shows Noticeable Growth in Passport Strength

Bangladesh has become one of the best performing countries in the index of the years. Being historically placed in the bottom tier, the ranking of Bangladesh has steadily improved due to an increase in the number of diplomatic contacts, the involvement into the increased number of partnerships at the regional level, and the efforts to make its relations abroad more stable. Even though the mobility access in the country is relatively lower compared to the world leaders, the increasing trend is a positive change in the global status of the country. The development is a reflection of the larger goals of Bangladesh to strengthen its economic presence as well as increase its connectivity to the global market.

Singapore and Spain Rise Strongly to Second Place

The 2025 index shows a sharp change with Singapore and Spain in the 2nd place together. The fact that Singapore has come out of the 30 th spot it had last year to come out as the second country is especially impressive given that this city-state has a lot of diplomacy, economic clout, and world trust. The two countries, Singapore and Spain, have a visa-free access to 175 destinations, thus, signifying their strong international relations and economic political stability. Singapore also continues to be known the world over as a destination to 193 destinations with a wide range of travel databases, which solidifies its position as one of the most mobile passports globally.

A Competitive Cluster Forms Behind the Leaders

Under the UAE and the second-ranking countries, the index shows a group of nations which are all ranked at position 3, with each one allowing access to 174 destinations. This group mostly includes the powerful European states with the strong foreign policy connections and stable economies. The similar ranking of them increases the tightness between the leading passports, making the global movement more competitive.

Regional Strong Performers in the Top Ten

The recent ranking spectrums showed significant performances by European nations when a wider analysis is conducted. The next level of competition is obtained by Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain and Switzerland that all can afford visa-free travel to 188 destinations. The other cohort, including Croatia, Estonia, Slovakia, Slovenia, UAE, and the United Kingdom, is gathered in the 8 th tier with access to 184 destinations. These exemplifications testify to the fact that Europe remains the leading country in terms of traveling mobility around the world due to political sanity and unified regional politics.

Countries Struggling at the Bottom of the Index

The lower part of the index has not increased much, even though there are progressive developments in some parts. Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq remain in the third, fourth, and fifth place which can be explained by the long-term instability and limited diplomatic interactions. The same case applies to Pakistan whose passport is considered to have one of the lowest ranks and its nationals are only allowed to visit 45 countries without prior visa entry.
