Jamaat-e-Islami Urges Election Before Next Ramadan.

A huge debate whirls around the political circle of Bangladesh about the national elections which decides the government to rule. Many experts and the political leaders have been sharing their opinions about conducting the elections. And today during the meeting with U.S.Deputy Assistant Secretary, Afreen Akhter, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has emphasized the necessity of implementing the key reforms prior to any elections before the next Ramadan.

“They wanted to know when we want this election. We said that the chief advisor of the government wanted to hold the election by December this year or June next year. We want to see if the chief adviser sticks to his commitment” said Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman.

“If we wait until June, Monsoon, storms and various types of natural disasters may come. Then there will be a risk of not holding the election. We want the election to be held before Ramadan. That is our opinion” he added.

Moreover, the leaders of Jamaat shared the interest showcased by the authorities of the U.S. towards the internal issues and the current plight of the country. Further, they had requested the US to reconsider their recently altered tariff of 37% for Bangladesh.
