20,000 Metric Tons of Atap Rice Arrived from Vietnam

Bangladesh received 20,000 metric tons of Atap rice from ভিয়েতনাম at Chittagong port on 28 April 2025 (Monday). The rice shipment arrived aboard the vessel MV THAI BINH 09 and marks a major step under a government to government signed on 3 February 2025. As part of the agreement Bangladesh will import a total of 100,000 metric tons of Atap rice to boost its food reserves and stabilize domestic prices. 

It has been confirmed by the Ministry of Food confirmed that necessary quality tests were conducted and unloading operations kicked off previously. The initiative focuses on the concerns over the local market, its volatility and aims to ensure steady supply across the country. All these timely imports of the Bangladesh government manage the stock levels effectively and support market stability.
