Bengal is famous for many things but it is mostly famous for its festivals, festivals you can never find anywhere else. where food has always been heart of the every celebration. These festivals bring people together and more closer with joy, colors, music and most importantly, delicious traditional dishes.
One of the biggest festivals in Bangal is দুর্গা পূজা, which is celebrated with grandeur in Kolkata and across the whole West Bengal. Here Pandals are decorated beautifully with perfection and the food is just as waao. You can enjoy dishes like khichuri, labra (mixed vegetable curry) with beguni (fried eggplant) and sweets like rosogolla and sandesh.
Another major and most lovable festival is Poila Boishakh, known as the Bengali New Year. Ok this festival families begin their day with prayers and ado wear traditional clothes. When it comes to food an, it ncludes ilish machh (Hilsa fish curry), pulao, mutton curry with sweet dishes like mishti doi (sweet yogurt).
This puja is special for students. During সরস্বতী পূজা, students worship the goddess of knowledge and learning. In this puja Prasad includes khichuri, fried vegetables with sweets and fresh fruits. It give a feel of mini Durga Puja for young people.
When it comes to Jamai Shasthi, it’s a unique Bengali festival which is dedicated to sons-in-law. On this day in Bangal, mothers-in-law treat them like a king and feed them royal spread of fish, sweets, rice and curries.
We all know about Rath Yatra and also that it’s dedicated to Lord Jagannath, which is one of the another colorful event. On this day of yatra, the streets fill with chariots, and prasad like khichuriand payesh (rice pudding) which are distributed among devotees.
