Nusraat Faria Mazhar, a Bangladeshi Actress who portrayed the role of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the late President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s biopic, ‘Mujib: The Making of a Nation’. The attempted case is tied to Enamul Haque during the riot that happened in 2014 against Former PM Sheikh Hasina.
The protest that eventually led to the ousting of Sheikh Hasina from her position happened a decade ago.The order of interrogation and arrest was issued on Monday by the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nasrin Akhter, as reported by Dhaka Tribune.
The bail applied by the defense lawyer was opposed by the public prosecutor following the hearing, she was ordered to be jailed. The next hearing for the actress for bail is also set on 22 May.
Enamul Haque was a part of the riot against Sheikh Hasina where he was shot in the leg and further taken to the hospital unconscious on 19 July. Haque on the 3 May of 2025 after recovering, filed a complaint on Faria and several artists on funding and supporting Sheikh Hasina.
The case was filed against Sheikh Hasina and 283 members including the Awami League party members and 17 artists. Nusraat Faria was one among them, accused 207th in the riot for funding the Awami League Party.
