The recent buzz in the row of their global milestone is the most significant award ‘Audience Award’ which has been bagged successfully by the 2024 Bangladeshi crime drama movie ‘Priyo Maloti’ (also known as – Whispers of a Thirsty River) directed by Shankha Dasgupta based on the true events. It is a story of a lower middle class Hindu woman, Maloti Rani Das whose life turns upside down after a tragic fire accident in which she loses her husband. Primarily director, Shankha tries to cater to diverse themes like love, loss and societal challenges faced by women.
