Bangladesh to buy another 50,000 metric tons of rice from India

India has been the consistent supplier of rice to বাংলাদেশ always and even during the period when the domestic supply constraints. And today the proposal for the additional buy of 50,000 metric tons of rice from India has been approved after the meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement. This meeting took place on 17 April 2025 which is today under the Chairmanship of Financial Advisor Dr.Salehuddin Ahmed. Apart from India, rice has been imported from countries including Myanmar, Pakistan, Vietnam and Singapore. 

Price & Other details

The given information underscores the precise details of the import that is around 50,000 metric tons of non-basmati parboiled rice from M/s Pattabhi Agro Foods Private Limited of India. This import will be done through an international tender under package-12 of 2024-2025 fiscal year and the official permit for import is issued by the Ministry of Food.
