Historic Mosque City of Bagerhat
Khalifatabad, the previous and ancient name of the city of mosque when founded in the 15th Century by Khan Jahan Ali. The Mosque City of Bagerhat has 300 mosques, public buildings, mausoleums, bridges, and water tanks, mostly constructed from baked brick. Located in Khulna, the site was included as the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.
Ruins of the Buddhist Vihara at Paharpur
An ancient Buddhist Vihara known as Somapura Mahavihara dates back to the 8th Century. It was an important part of the Mahayana Buddhist monastery till the 12th Century. It is made with stone and terracotta sculptures and carvings and the architectural style inspired the monasteries in Cambodia, Java and Myanmar. The Buddhist Vihara was inducted to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.
The Sundarbans
The Bangladesh part of the Sundarbans national park is one of the stunning and the delta of the rivers Ganges and Brahmaputra. Being the world’s largest and richest Mangrove Forest that has a recorded 74 species of Mangrove. As a biodiversity hotspot, the Sundarbans was recognised as a Heritage Site in 1997.
