With the demand for electoral reforms, unbiased justice for the previous violence in the country and fair elections in the upcoming days, Jamaat e-Islami has kicked off this national rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on 19 July 2025 and this is marked as a first ever major solo rally of this party at this iconic venue. Through this rally they are planning to assert their political relevance and to push the structural changes before the arrival of the 2026 national elections.
As the gathering is larger than expected the party has informed the public along with their apology for the inconvenience that it could cause in the traffic division and the law enforcement. And some of the sources state that many regions are encountering serious congestion. The following are the traffic routes to be noted for today.
- Karwan Bazar to Shahbagh : Only small vehicles are allowed, Buses banned
- Shahbagh to DU (TSC – High Court Rd) : Closed expect for DU/emergency
- City Major Junctions : One lane alongside the procession lanes are open
- Dhaka to Chattogram Highway (Jatrabari) : A long congestion is recorded
- Public Transit : Few buses allowed, rickshaws are clouding
People are instructed to avoid travel near Shahbagh, Dhaka University এবং the main highway corridor via Jatrabari. And the alternative routes are north-south corridors bypassing central Dhaka.
