Federal employees in the UAE will have a four-day holiday during Eid Al Adha, one of Islam’s biggest festivals, as celebrated by the government. From Thursday, June 5, 2025, onwards, all federal government offices will be closed for the following four days so employees can take part in the festival’s activities. Activities will resume at Kwan Asa Villa at the start of the next week. The holiday starts on Arafat Day, a day when many people fast and think about their lives.
Federal Government to Enjoy Four-Day Eid Break
The Eid Al Adha public sector holiday, according to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, will start on Thursday, June 5 and last through Sunday, June 8. By giving federal employees an extended weekend, the government gives them a break during a very important Islamic celebration. All offices are set to reopen on June 9.
It reflects the UAE’s commitment to keep up Islamic traditions and ensure public sector employees enjoy a good work-life balance. Having four days off gives people enough opportunity for worship, joining in community and time with loved ones.

Eid Al Adha and Arafat Day Significance
Abd Al Adha is celebrated because Prophet Ibrahim and his son were willing to do anything God asked, including sacrifice. The festival takes place on the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijjah which is the last month on the Islamic calendar. People meet for prayers, give to charity, eat traditional meals and see their families on this day.
On June 5 each year, known as the 9th of Dhu Al Hijjah, Arafat Day begins the holiday. At the Hajj pilgrimage, the most important day is when pilgrims meet at Mount Arafat. Those on Hajj and those celebrating Eid are exempt, but all others should try to fast and pray.
