The Bangladesh government has extended the deadline for registration of eligible students under the student stipend programme run by the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust, giving institutions more time to register students. The new deadline is May 7, 2026, which provides relief to schools, madrasas and families who were yet to complete the process.
Who Is Eligible?
The stipend programme is designed to help newly admitted students at critical academic levels. This is applicable for the students of Class VI for the academic year 2026 and Class XI and first year Alim for the session 2025-26.
Eligible students should be enrolled in government-recognised schools, madrasas or similar institutions. Many are asking about the Tk 3 lakh income limit. But as per the new updates, eligibility will depend on socioeconomic data verified by institutions, not a fixed income limit. The programme, however, has always been intended for students from financially disadvantaged families.
Key Eligibility Requirements
Students’ information is verified through institutions. This means verifying the student’s address, academic record, and family background.
One of the main conditions is that the guardian of the student must have a Nagad account using their National ID. This enables a smooth, direct transfer of stipend money. Regular attendance is also required, since irregular students may not be eligible for payments.
How to Apply Online
It’s not directly applicable to the students or parents, unlike many government schemes. Instead, the application process is conducted by the educational institutions themselves.
The school authorities have to log in to the official PMEAT portal and follow the steps below:
- Log in to the system, and select “Primary Selection”
- Select “New Student Entry”
- Enter and validate all required student information.
- Save the application.
- Save and Submit Before the Deadline.
Accuracy is critical, particularly for guardian details or Nagad account information, as errors could delay or block payments.
Deadline & What You Should Do
The deadline has been extended to May 7, 2026, so institutions have a limited window to get registrations done. In the past, there have been extensions, but this time, there is no guarantee of any further delays.
Students and parents are advised to contact their school or madrasa without delay to confirm that their details have been correctly submitted.
