Stars of Bangladesh showbiz are going back to the cricket field as the Celebrity Champions Trophy kicks off on May 5 with four teams taking part in a new T20 format.

Bangladesh’s entertainment industry will finally return to the fans after two years! The popular celebrity cricket tournament has returned in its new form, the Celebrity Champions Trophy (CCT). Formerly the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), this new concept is filled with even more excitement.

Kicking off on May 5, the CCT will showcase four exciting teams – Gladiators, Kings, Warriors and Spartans consisting of some of the strongest actors, actresses, singers and filmmakers in the nation’s showbiz. You can look out for participants including actors such as Siam Ahmed, Shariful Razz, Irfan Sajjad, Tawsif Mahbub, Ziaul Roshan, Joy Chowdhury and Sanju John. Actresses such as Deepa Khandakar, Mehazabien Chowdhury, Tasnia Farin, Salha Khanam Nadia, Sayra Akter and Keya Payel, Bonni Hasan. Singers including Arfin Rumi and Jakia Sultana Kornia and filmmakers including Giasuddin Selim, Mostofa Kamal Raz, Tanim Rahman Anshu and Probir Roy Chowdhury.

This year’s tournament represents a major shift from its past indoor 6-over format to an outdoor, T20 format as per international cricket standards and introduces a greater competitive edge into the tournament. Seven matches will be played, including the final. T Sports will broadcast the event live to allow fans across the country to follow the action.

The official unveiling of the trophy happened on May 1 with players being formally announced that day. As it rolled back to 2023 where the last tournament was cancelled due to issues between the members. 

As the Celebrity Champions Trophy begins, it celebrates not just the blending of sports and entertainment but also brings to life the spirit and togetherness of Bangladesh’s entertainment industry. Fans can expect exciting matches, celebrities playing and a carnival feel that brings together the realms of cinema and cricket.
