Sajek
Sajek Valley is a favourite holiday destination in Bangladesh located in the hills of the Kasalong range of hills in northern Chittagong Hill Tracts. With lush greenery and lovely views all around it, it’s a peaceful haven for nature lovers.
Cox’s Baza
Cox’s Bazar is famous for its long sandy beach stretching from Sea Beach to Kolatoli Beach. Another favourite tourist spot is the ancient Aggameda Khyang monastery containing bronze Buddha sculptures and ancient manuscripts. Sea turtles’ breeding centres on Sonadia Island and waterfalls at Himchari National Park are adjacent tourist spots.
Sundarbans
The Sundarbans is a huge mangrove forest in the Ganges Delta, created where the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Meghna Rivers converge. It runs from West Bengal, India, to Khulna Division, Bangladesh, and is famous for its high biodiversity and the famous Royal Bengal Tiger.
Bangladesh National Parliament House
The Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban is the National Parliament House of Bangladesh and can be found in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, beside Zia Udyan. It was architecturally designed by Louis Kahn and is an example of new-age architectural structures, serving as the seat of Bangladesh’s legislative activities.
Lalbagh Fort
Lalbagh Fort, old Dhaka, Bangladesh, is a historical Mughal fort named Fort Aurangabad. The fort, found in the Lalbagh region, also referred to as the Red Garden, features reddish-pink colours typical of the Mughals and is still one of the top heritage sites.
Ratargul Swamp Forest
Ratargul Swamp Forest is a rare freshwater swamp forest along the Gowain River in Gowainghat, Sylhet, Bangladesh. Previously thought to be the sole swamp forest in the country, it still stands as one of the world’s few freshwater swamp forests with heavy biodiversity and natural grandeur.
National Martyrs’ Memorial
National Martyrs’ Memorial, situated in Savar some 35 km north of Dhaka, is Bangladesh’s symbol of monument to commemorate the courageous victims of the 1971 Liberation War. Representing the country’s struggle to gain independence from Pakistan, the building is a poignant symbol of sacrifice, freedom, and patriotism.
Dhaka
Dhaka, once called Dacca, is the capital and largest urban center of Bangladesh. With a population figure of approximately 34,000 persons per square kilometer, Dhaka is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. Covering an area of about 300 square kilometers, Dhaka is a cultural, commercial, and political hub.
Ahsan Manzil
Ahsan Manzil, situated in the Kumartoli neighborhood along the Buriganga River in Dhaka, was the abode of the Nawab of Dhaka in the past. Today, a museum, it is a reminder of the city’s glorious past and has been declared an Old Dhaka Heritage Site due to its cultural value.
Dhakeshwari Temple
Dhakeshwari National Temple is a Hindu temple in Old Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is owned by the state, which renders to it the status of being Bangladesh’s ‘National Temple’. “Dhakeshwari” is a name that signifies “Goddess of Dhaka”. Bangladesh is the only nation in the world with a National Hindu Temple.
Bagerhat
Bagerhat district, with an area of 44,959.11 sq km, is endowed with rivers such as the Panguchi, Pasur, and Madhumati. Famous for its old mosques, Bagerhat city was established by the Muslim saint Khan Jahan Ali and is famous for its Islamic heritage and architectural wonders.
Kaptai Lake
Kaptai Lake, the largest artificial lake in Bangladesh, is situated in Kaptai Upazila of Rangamati District of the Chittagong Division. Created by building the Kaptai Dam on the Karnaphuli River, it is an important part of the Karnafuli Hydropower Station and a well-known tourist destination.
