Born as Masud Parvez but shining as Sohel Rana both at the stage of acting and politics for more than five decades. His unparalleled passion and dedication has inspired millions of his followers. He began his career both as a director and producer of his very first movie in Dhallywood “Ora Egaro Jon” in 1972 and in the year 1974 he debuted as an actor in “Masud Rana”. The legendary actor Sohel has transformed himself as a multifaceted personality through his decades of experience and has acted in more than three hundred movies. Also, he became the Presidium Member of one of the leading parties of Bangladesh, which is the Jatiya Party.

Why did he retire?

“At 79 it’s difficult to stay active in both acting and politics. It requires energy and constant engagement, which my health no longer allows. Continuing now would feel like a burden” said Sohel Rana

“Cinema has changed. Our generation no longer fits with today’s trends. Unlike in foreign films where older actors are given meaningful roles. Here we’re limited to stereotypical parts like parents or uncles often without room to truly perform. I’d rather step away with the love and respect I’ve earned” he added.
