Covid Cases Spike in Bangladesh: DGHS Issues Guidelines

A new wave of concern is rising in Bangladesh as the Covid cases are rising in numbers, so the Directorate General of Health Services has declared few instructions.

Once again the concern is boiling within the health authorities of Bangladesh after encountering a fresh spike in the covid cases across the country. Between the month of May and June 2025, initially it was reported as three and it just climbed to the high ending at 50 in May. The available information states that some of the major hospitals ran out of the vaccine stocks that are expiring soon. Though the surge which has emerged now is not fatal, it can cause worse consequences if the patient has a weaker immune system/children or an elderly citizen. 

To tackle this national concern the DGHS has announced the list of instructions which must be strictly followed by the people across the country without any fail to chop off further spread of the Covid.

  • Avoid public gatherings. If you attend, be sure to wear a mask.
  • Wear a mask to protect yourself from getting infected by respiratory diseases.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with your arm or a tissue paper while sneezing or coughing.
  • Throw the used tissue into a trash can with a lid immediately.
  • Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap or hand sanitizer.
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth with an untidy hands.
  • Avoid contact with people who were found positive. Also, maintain a distance of at least 3 feet in public.

Instructions to Suspected Patients

  • If you are diagnosed with a fever, cough, or difficulty in breathing they are instructed to stay in your home until they recover.
  • The patient must be instructed to use a mask to cover their nose and mouth.
  • If you are the caretaker of the affected one, you should also wear masks as a precaution.
  • If necessary, contact the nearest hospital or IEDCR (01401-196293) or the Health Portal (16263).
