As of September 5th, 2025, the currency exchange rates in Bangladesh are determined by the inter-bank market, which fluctuates based on demand and supply. The Bangladesh Bank is responsible for these currency exchange transactions and provides benchmark rate pricing for USD/BDT, determined from both the New York and Dhaka closing prices, in addition to cross-rate pricing to other currencies. Below is an in-depth summary of today’s exchange rate for Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) against the major currencies: Indian Rupee (INR), Pakistani Rupee (PKR), US Dollar (USD), Canadian Dollar (CAD), UAE Dirham (AED), Euro (EUR), British Pound (GBP), and Australian Dollar (AUD).

U.S. Dollar

For most banks in Bangladesh, the USD/BDT rate reflects the state of the forex market. As of September 3, 2025, the inter-bank rates for 1 USD buy and sell were 121.6500 BDT and 121.7500 BDT, respectively, with an aggregate weighted average rate (WAR) of 121.7013 BDT. The stability of the USD/BDT rate is a result of intervention from the Bangladesh Bank to maintain orderly market conditions. There was a recent spot volume of USD 36 million traded.

Indian Rupee

The INR/BDT exchange rate is important because there are strong trade relations between Bangladesh and India. As of September 3, 2025, the two-way cross rates per 1 INR had a buying rate of 1.3821 BDT and a selling rate of 1.3839 BDT. These tight spreads imply that a stable exchange rate environment allows for improved cross-border business.

Pakistani Rupee

There are quotations for PKR/BDT, but they tend to be less common. However, these rates can be derived based on USD rates. Approximately 1 USD is 121.7013 BDT and 1 USD is 278.50, based on open market rates. This means that 1 PKR is around 0.437 BDT. This is indicative and can vary slightly when done for open market trades.

The Canadian dollar

For Bangladeshi expats living in Canada, the CAD/BDT exchange rate is important. The buying rate is 88.2417 BDT per CAD as of September 3, 2025, and the selling rate is 88.3527 BDT. According to recent data, the CAD has slightly strengthened, with one CAD worth 88.24878 BDT on August 27, 2025.

Dirham, UAE

For Bangladeshi labourers in the United Arab Emirates, the AED/BDT rate is crucial. Although precise September 5 prices are not available, historical data indicate that 1 AED is equivalent to 33.10 BDT (based on USD/AED and USD/BDT rates). Rates on the open market may vary slightly.

The British pound versus the euro

With buying and selling rates of 141.5763 BDT and 141.7413 BDT, respectively, the Euro is still strong compared to the Taka. With rates of 162.9015 BDT for purchases and 163.1328 BDT for sales, the British pound is even more powerful. The strong economic situations of the UK and EU are reflected in these rates.

The Australian dollar

The AUD/BDT exchange rates are moderately strong, with 79.3036 BDT for purchasing and 79.3932 BDT for selling. For Bangladeshi immigrants and students in Australia, this is pertinent.

In conclusion

Businesses, tourists, and expatriates in Bangladesh must keep abreast of exchange rates. These rates offer a glimpse of the ever-changing foreign exchange market and are obtained from reputable sources such as Bangladesh Bank and forex portals.
