Dr.Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh landed in Qatar for a four day diplomatic tour that dated from 21 – 24 April 2025. After accepting the invitation from the Prime Minister of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Yunus took part in the events that bolstered the bilateral ties of both the nations. The relationship between Bangladesh and Qatar has its roots from the year 1977 and it has now flourished successfully through the partnership in diverse sectors including energy, trade, labor cooperation and more. 

The recent four day tour of Yunus also aims to enhance the bilateral relationship with Qatar who play a significant role in the economy and presenting the working opportunities for the people of Bangladesh in various sectors. 

Highlights of Four Day tour in Qatar 

  • Left Dhaka on 21 April 2025 and accompanied by the notable authorities which includes Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun and Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs Lamiya Morshed.
  • Dr.Yunus attended the Earthna Summit 2025 held in Doha. There he delivered an important speech regarding sustainability and climate resilience and global initiatives on the environmental challenges.
  • Took part in the high-level meetings on energy, investment, & regional cooperation with the deputy PM of Qatar.
  • And the spotlight of diplomatic talks fell on embracing the LNG supply agreement and exploring the new energy collaboration avenues. 
  • And signed an MoU which renews the LNG Supply from Qatar to Bangladesh.
  • The Investment Summit highlighted the importance of involvement in the investments in the economic zones of Bangladesh & the infrastructure projects.
  • Discussions on Joint development initiatives with Qatar foundation and Qatar Charity took place.
  • During the last day, he attended the meeting with the Prime Minister of Qatar and advocated for the solutions & support for the displaced Rohingya population. 
  • On 25 April 2025, Dr.Yunus returned to the capital Dhaka.
