ISKCON Leader and Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested in a court in Chittagong, Bangladesh after being accused of 4 Murder Cases and charges of disrespecting the Bangladesh National Flag.
A judge in Chittagong has shown arrested Chinmoy Krishna Das in four cases filed in connection with the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif”, Ashraf Hossain Razzak, General Secretary of Chittagong Bar Association, told ANI over the phone.
The priest was granted bail by the Bangladesh High Court on the last of April 2025 after being arrested for multiple counts of murder charges. In November 2024, Saiful Islam Alif was brutally attacked with a murder weapon by Chinmoy Krishna Das’ followers who were protesting to release the religious leader. Unfortunately the attack was fatal and took the life of the lawyer practicing at the Chittagong court.
On the charges of sedition, Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested by the Bangladesh Police on 25 November 2024 at the Dhaka Airport. Bench of justice headed by Justice Atoar Rahman and Justice Mohammed Ali Reza passed the petition for his bail last week.
In order to prevent Chinmoy Prabhu from being released, even after being granted bail by the High Court, he was shown arrested in Chittagong court, None of Chinmoy’s lawyers were able to appear in the Chittagong court. The prosecution unilaterally did the hearing”,said Das’s lawyer Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee, reports ANI.
The lawyer claims the allegations against Chinmoy Krishna Da were false and baseless without any proper evidence as the priest was arrested for insulting the national flag and sedition. The lawyer pointed out that there is no speech or Das’ preaching that are against the nation while also said that they expect him to be released within a week.
