Coke Studio Bangla Season 4 Is Here Just in Time
Coke Studio Bangla has kicked off its fourth season in a culturally perfect moment with a tribute to Kazi Nazrul Islam ahead of his birth anniversary on May 25. A special opening track has been released. The season begins with a re-imagined version of his iconic composition “Room Jhoom” presented as an act of cultural remembrance that celebrates his enduring musical legacy through a contemporary arrangement bridging traditions across regions.
A Cross-Cultural Collaboration with Historical Roots” Room Jhoom” is based on Üsküdar’a Gider İken, an Ottoman-Turkish folk song that Nazrul absorbed and converted into a Bengali monsoon poem, which generations of Bangladeshis have grown up singing without knowing its journey. This iteration brings the circle of musical collaboration to a close, with Bangladeshi artists Mahtim Shakib and Nusrat Jahan collaborating with Turkish musicians Elif Hande Cevgel and Mustafa Ipek.
