The name “Silk City” of Bangladesh refers to Rajshahi. It’s more than just calm streets and fruit fields; it’s a historic treasure trove!  Some of the most beautiful heritage places in the country can be found in Rajshahi.  Each brick showed a big story from a different dynasty.  Here is a short list of places you should visit in Rajshahi to fall in love with its rich history.

1. Puthia Temple Complex, also known as “The Land of Legends,”

To begin your heritage tour, Puthia is a great choice. It is one of the biggest temple sites in Bangladesh.  With its terracotta carvings, motifs, and sacred temple towers, the building will take your breath away.  The Govinda temple and the Shiva temple are the most important parts of this Temple. They are the result of hundreds of years of dedication and hard work.

2. The Varendra Research Museum is a place where history comes to life

It has unique artefacts from the ancient countries of Bengal, such as sculptures, coins, inscriptions, and tools that are thousands of years old. It was founded in 1910.  It’s like flipping through the pages of Bengal’s ancient history as you walk through its halls.

3. Bagha Mosque: A Beautiful Piece of Mughal Architecture

The Bagha Mosque, which was built by Sultan Nasiruddin Nasrat Shah in the 1600s, is a great example of Mughal design.  Even though a lot of time has passed, the terracotta designs on its walls and the beautiful roofs still look beautiful.

4. Natore Rajbari, also known as “The Palace of Elegance,”

A short drive from Rajshahi is Natore Rajbari, which is where Rani Bhabani lives as queen.  The palace complex still has signs of power and grace, even though it is not as grand as it used to be.  The parks, arches, and courtyards that are very old will take you back to Bengal’s royal times.

5. The Kantaji Temple in Kantanagar

This 18th-century temple is worth the trip; it’s just outside of Rajshahi.  People know the Kantaji Temple for its amazing terracotta art and the stories that are told in the intricate patterns that are on all four walls.  It’s one of the best examples of a Hindu temple building in this area.
