The actor, known for splitting his time between Bangladesh and the US, is back in front of the camera as the production pushes to wrap one of the year’s most anticipated Bangladeshi films.

“Soldier,” directed by debutant filmmaker Shakeeb Fahad, has been one of the most closely watched productions in Dhallywood since it began filming in October last year. Backed by Sun Music and Motion Pictures Limited, the film tells the story of an ordinary man’s fight against corruption and injustice — a narrative the makers describe as less about war in the traditional sense and more about the quiet resilience of Bangladesh’s younger generation. The Cast Alongside Shakib
The film also stars television favourite Tanjin Tisha, making her big-screen debut opposite Shakib, alongside Jannatul Ferdous Oishee, Tariq Anam Khan, and Tauquir Ahmed. Tisha’s casting had been the subject of speculation for years, with earlier rumours of a pairing with Shakib falling through more than once before finally coming together for “Soldier.”
A Production Spanning Continents
Production on the film has taken the cast and crew across multiple locations, including extended shoots in Dhaka and a stint in Sri Lanka, which has increasingly become a preferred filming destination for Bangladeshi productions amid logistical hurdles associated with shooting in India. Reports had also suggested a trip to Bangkok, Thailand, to complete the film’s remaining sequences, including a song sequence that the director has indicated will mark the symbolic close of principal photography.
What’s Next for ‘Soldier’
With Shakib Khan now back on set, the production team is expected to accelerate its remaining schedule. While an official release date has yet to be locked in, director Shakeeb Fahad has expressed confidence that “Soldier” will hit theatres within the year, with both an October (Durga Puja) and a December window under consideration.
