It’s required for banking, SIM registration, passport application, land registration and dozens of government services. Even a wrong address, wrong date of birth or a small spelling mistake in your name can cause serious problems with all of these services. Luckily, you don’t need to stand in long queues at the Upazila Election Office to get these mistakes corrected any more.
What Can Be Fixed Online
If you have any wrong information on your voter id or smart NID card like your name, date of birth, parent’s name, religion, mobile number, nationality, gender, or address, you can correct it online from home with your smartphone.
Step By Step Online Rectification Process
You can register through the services of the Bangladesh Election Commission website to correct your name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, marital status, educational qualification etc.nidw.gov.bd.
Here’s what you do:
- Go to services.nidw.gov.bd and register an account with your NID number and date of birth
- Log in and navigate to your Profile area
- Click the edit button, make the changes needed and pay the NID amendment fee
- Upload supporting documents, depending on correction type
- Apply Send application Wait for an SMS confirmation
Required documentation
Supporting documents differ according to the type of correction. Change of Name: Normally, copies of the SSC or the Birth Certificate are required. To change the date of birth, a birth certificate or school certificate is required. Address changes require a utility bill or a local government certificate.
Fees & processing times
NID information correction fee Tk. 200 to be paid through bank, bKash or Rocket. Processing usually takes 15-20 days. If you need to submit further documents, you will be sent an SMS notification.
