Asian Games 2026: Cricket secures its spot in Japan

20th Asian Games of the 2026 edition will kick off on 19 September 2025 in Japan involving the individuals coming from various parts of the Asian region under diverse sports categories. Among them, cricket is a crucial one, and an update regarding this sports has been announced by the Olympic Council Asia (OCA). That is both Cricket and Martial Arts will be featuring in the 2026 Asian Games and it will be a T20 Format. With this confirmation cricket enters the Asian Games for the fourth time after 2010, 2014, & 2022.

“The venue for cricket will be in Aichi Prefecture, but the exact location has not been decided. Interest will be high, not only because of cricket’s popularity in South Asia in particular but also because the T20 (20 overs per side) format will be included in the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028” – OCA
