The ODI series which comprises three games between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, is going on with Sri Lanka leading the chase. Meanwhile, Bangladesh has entered the crease with the aim of equaling their competition and taking their team towards winning the series. Yet, the inclusion of one of the best batters of Bangladesh Najmul Hossain Shanto has been questioned and criticised by the experts.
During the first ODI Shanto went back to the pavilion by 23 runs and it sparked the heavy criticism regarding his responsibility during such a crucial match. The poor call for the second run is widely regarded as the turning point of that pivotal game and his dismissal led to the disruption of the steady partnership. Today, unfortunately he lost his wicket to Asalanka at 14 runs and it further kindled the dissatisfaction towards his game.
The sources also highlighted the comment of Taskin Ahmed who admitted the panic which flared up within the dressing room after the dismissal of Shanto and it reflected in the loss of back to back wickets. And wrapped at the total of 167. Despite being a good performer in the past, the top order failure in the recent games has cost the team’s victory just a few more hits away from it.
