It is a heart breaking tragedy that Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota died tragically in a terrible car accident in Spain at age 28, together with his brother Andre Silva aged 26. The brothers died in the early morning hours of Thursday when their speedy Lamborghini overturned and burst into flames in the area of Zamora, one of the provinces in the north western part of Spain.
Diogo Jota death confirmed by Spanish Civil Guard
The Civil Guard of Spain which carried out investigation reported that the sports car lost control in the process of trying to overtake another vehicle. A tyre has been said to have burst in the process making the car go out of control and burst into flames.
Castille-Leon fire officials assured them that by the time emergency responders arrived at the scene, the vehicle was already on fire. The burnt bodies were retrieved and taken to the local morgue to positively identify the bodies.
The Diogo Jota wedding was just two days before the crash as the player ushered in his long-time partner Rute Cardoso. The family of three children took to social media hours before the accident to share some happy moments of their wedding.
His younger brother Andre Silva was yet another professional footballer, who played in the Portuguese second division with Penafiel. Andre did not have such wide recognition in the international sphere but he was making a path of his own in the footballing world. They were both keen athletes and very admired in their clubs.
