England’s finest Joe Root in his way of taking England closer to reach India’s score in Manchester has also made it to the creamy top layer of the elite list, joining the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting in the Top 3 All time highest test scorers.

England batting at 332 – 2 at lunch, at Old Trafford leaving 26 to lead the visitors and Root was already appealed for a leg before wicket when batting at 22, an unsuccessful review at India’s part, further boosted the batsman to plough through the inning.

With the English juggernaut taking over the innings with Ollie Pope from Jack Crawley and Ben Duckett, who registered 84 and 94 respectively. Both Pope and Root have crossed half way to a century before lunch on Day 3, with Indian bowlers running high miles to no effect on the England top order and the series leaning heavily for the hosts who are currently holding 2-1.
