The well-known cricketer from India, Virat Kohli has made the official statement about his dismissal from Test cricket, and his magnificent 14 years of Test cricket is over. In a sincere Instagram post, the veteran announced the decision to quit, saying it was a right time despite the difficulty. The retirement of Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin heralded by Kohli’s is a watershed moment in India’s philosophy towards Test cricket. Debuting in 2011, Kohli eventually became one of the most influential captains and batsmen in Test cricket by the global community of fans and colleagues for his efforts.

A Career Etched in White: Kohli’s Test Journey

Kohli has had a Test career of 14 years and at 30 he has established himself as a pillar of the Indian cricket. Kohli in his moving farewell message appreciated the gravities and emotional weight that Test cricket requires. In his farewell message he noted, “Test cricket both humbled and developed me, and the memories and lessons I gained will be with me forever. There is literally nothing for Kohli’s cricketing record to be less than remarkable. Alone in 123 Test matches, he collected 9230 runs at an average score of 46.85, with 30 centuries and 31 fifties. His innings record-setting went all the way to an unbeaten 254. After winning many accolades, he will finish his career not quite at the 10000-run mark – a fact out of reach that was quite noteworthy.

Changing of the Guard in Indian Test Cricket

It is with Kohili’s exit that Indian cricket begins a phase of great transformation. As Ashwin and Rohit retire and no longer play Tests, Kohli’s exit mimics the last page of a glorious period for Indian cricket. The cricket fraternity is now examining Shami’s role in the senior ranks as the team gets ready to pass the baton to the hands of the younger generation.
