Are banks open today?
Most banks in Bangladesh are closed for regular counter services as of Saturday, April 11, 2026. Most commercial banks are open from Sunday to Thursday, and Friday and Saturday are considered holidays. On Saturdays, normal branch counters are not open across the country, except in rare cases when the Bangladesh Bank gives special instructions for limited-service days or festival-related arrangements.
Digital banking and ATMs are still open
Branches are closed, but ATMs and digital banking channels are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Customers can use ATMs, mobile banking apps like bKash and Nagad, and bank-specific mobile and internet banking services to take out cash, move money, and pay bills. These choices are especially helpful when you need something right away on a weekend or holiday.

Normal banking hours on weekdays
Banks are usually open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM on regular workdays, which are Sunday through Thursday. Bangladesh Bank has recently told some branches to have shorter customer service hours (for example, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM) to make things run more smoothly and better manage staff.
Holidays for banks in 2026
Bangladesh Bank has said that there will be 28 bank holidays in 2026, in addition to the weekly holidays. Most branches are closed on these days, but they may open for a short time if special arrangements are made ahead of major holidays like Eid or other national holidays. Customers should read official notices to stay up to date.
What customers should do before they go
Customers should check their bank’s official website or mobile app for branch hours and holiday hours to avoid problems. Instead of going to the branch on Saturdays or bank holidays, it’s best to use ATMs, mobile banking, or cash-deposit machines to take care of urgent needs.
