Today’s huge inconvenience for the residents of Gulshan and Banani as the gas supply is suspended due to a technical problem. The disruption has also hit several nearby places, with families and companies struggling with routine operations.
What caused the gas outage?
The problem started when theTitas Gas pipeline was damaged during excavation work by Dhaka WASA on the Gulshan-Badda Link Road, reports said. The damage posed a serious safety risk, and authorities had to immediately shut off the gas supply in the affected zones, including Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara and surrounding neighbourhoods. The shutdown was a safety precaution to avoid possible hazards, such as leaks or explosions.
Impacts
Supply has been disrupted in Gulshan and Banani, and also in nearby areas like Baridhara. Cooking has been disrupted in homes and businesses, and restaurants and other small businesses that rely on gas hookups have been affected as well.
Work In Progress For Repairs
Titas Gas confirmed that the repair work is ongoing at the damaged site. Technical teams are working to repair the pipeline and safely restore the flow. But the company has not yet announced a specific timeline for a full restoration of gas service. Officials apologised for the inconvenience and asked residents to be patient while the repairs are made.
When will gas come back on?
No confirmed time for restoration at this stage. In past incidents earlier in 2026, the gas supply has usually returned gradually after repairs, with pressure rising over several hours, or even a couple of days. Residents are requested to stay updated through official channels or call the Titas Gas hotline (13622) for real-time information.
