Toofan, set in Bangladesh in the 1990s, traces the metamorphosis of a notorious criminal gangster to the most feared don of the underworld, while a resolute CID officer tracks him down relentlessly. Made on a humble Tk 7 crore budget, the film became a Tk 56 crore box office monster, drawing attention from even Bollywood trade analysts. With Mimi Chakraborty and Chanchal Chowdhury in memorable supporting roles, Toofan is pure, unapologetic masala entertainment at its very best.
3. Priyotoma (2023) – Bangladesh’s Heartbreaking Love Story
Priyotoma is a romantic drama tragedy film directed by Himel Ashraf. It is about a tragic love story that leaves an eternal impression on Sumon, played by Shakib Khan. Sumon’s world is destroyed, and he is forever changed. Priyotoma was released on Eid 2023 and made the holiday a celebration, earning Tk 41–42 crore and becoming the second-highest-grossing Bangladeshi film of all time at the time of its release. 4. Shikari (2016) — The Indo-Bangla Classic
Shikari is a Bangladesh-India joint venture movie with Shakib Khan, Srabanti Chatterjee and Rahul Dev in lead roles. The film was released in July 2016. Dorod is a joint production of Bangladesh and India, starring Shakib Khan and Indian actress Sonal Chauhan. The film was released in November 2024 in 257 theatres across 22 countries, making it one of the most widely distributed Bangladeshi films ever.
