To counter the impact of inflation on distressed citizens, the government of Bangladesh has officially raised monthly cash payouts under its social safety-net programmes. Widow and Abandoned Women Allowance: Tk 700 Monthly
The widows and women abandoned by husbands, numbering 28.75 lakh, under the Ministry of Social Welfare will get Tk 700 monthly instead of Tk 650. The same Tk 1,000 rate applies to 25,000 widows over 90 years of age.
Disability Allowance: Tk 900–Tk 1,000 Range
Of the 36 lakh persons with disabilities covered, 35.82 lakh will get Tk 900 (up from Tk 850) a month, while 18,100 severely disabled persons will get Tk 1,000. Student stipends for disabled learners also went up by Tk 50 at all levels of education.
