How to Tell Fake Notes from Real

1. Watermark Check (Tilt and Look)

Press the note to light it up. A real note has a distinct watermark of Royal Bengal Tiger, the figure “5” and the government monogram. The watermarks are blurred, absent or poorly defined in fake notes.

2. Serial Number Check

Real notes have unique serial numbers. If you have two notes with the same serial number, one of them is fake.

3. Quality of print

Real notes have fine, clear lines that are not blurred. Colors should be clear and sharp, not hazy. Fake notes tend to have fuzzy printing and dull colours.

4. Tactile Features (Touch)

Real notes have a slight roughness to the touch, especially the raised print, which is a key feature. Run your fingers over the note, and you can feel the feel of it.

5. Test For UV Light

Real notes have a few security features that glow under ultraviolet light in the right colours and spots. Fake notes may not have these or may have the wrong colours.

6. Quality of Paper

There is a different crispness and feel of paper that counterfeiters do not copy. The real currency notes … Fake bills will often feel flimsy or overly smooth.
