On April 21, 2026, numerous locations throughout Bangladesh experienced extremely hazardous weather conditions. The present UV Index Bangladesh 2026 has escalated to an extremely elevated and hazardous level of 11 (“EXTRAORDINARY”).
Unprotected skin typically occurs within 10 minutes of exposure to this amount of solar radiation, which greatly increases the risk of developing long-term health problems, such as cancerous (skin) lesions or other vision-modifying problems (i.e., cataracts).
Cities suffering from extreme UV risk in Bangladesh include: Dhaka, Chittagong and everywhere else (in the country) because of significant heat combined with much higher humidity levels than similarly large cities.
Why This Afternoon Is So Important (April 21, 2026)
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department says that the UV Index will be highest between 12 PM and 4 PM BST, with levels above 11 in some areas.
Temperatures in Dhaka are around 36°C, and the skies are clear to partly cloudy. This makes for the perfect conditions for extreme UV exposure. This makes it very dangerous to be outside in the middle of the day, especially without protection.

Districts Are Likely to Get Rain Relief
Most of Bangladesh areas are subtropical so gets a lot of UV light, but some areas may get a break from it when it rains or storms.
Divisions that are affected:
- Rangpur Division (Rangpur, Dinajpur, and Kurigram)
- Mymensingh Division (Mymensingh and Netrokona)
- Sylhet Division (Moulvibazar, Sunamganj, and Sylhet)
These places are likely to see nor’wester storms (Kalbaishakhi) with winds that can reach 45 to 60 km/h. These storms can make the temperature and UV levels drop for a short time.
But areas like Khulna and Chittagong are likely to stay mostly dry, and UV levels will stay dangerously high.
How to Keep Yourself Safe
As you have the Bangladesh weather update today. If you have to go outside, take these steps:
- Apply sunscreen with an SPF of 50 or higher every two hours.

- Wear sunglasses that block UV rays.
- During the hottest parts of the day, stay out of direct sunlight and drink plenty of water.
The best thing to do is still to stay inside between 12 and 4 PM.
