Cyclone Arnab: Bangladesh Weather Warning

All fishermen and people living in the coastal areas are being warned. Cyclone Arnab has formed in the Bay of Bengal and is headed west-northwest toward India’s Andhra Pradesh.

It is likely to make landfall on October 28 and could intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm when it hits the coast. Although it is unlikely to come directly to Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department informed that the cyclone might still change direction toward Bangladesh.

Signals Raised in Ports

All the ports in Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been instructed to hoist distant warning signal number 2.

Fishermen are Suggested to Remain Ashore

The sea near the cyclone is very rough. Fishermen are strongly advised against going further into the sea in the northern Bay of Bengal. If they are already deep in the sea, they need to head back.

Rain and Windy Weather Ahead

From October 27, it is expected to rain in the coastal Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram. It is expected to rain with thunder and gusts of winds in the Chattogram division. Starting October 29, rain is expected in Khulna, Rajshahi and Rangpur. There may be rain in Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet too.

Tips for Staying Alart

Avoid going near the water, secure loose items, and follow official BMD bulletins. Forecasts can change quickly, so stay alert.
