Pipeline replacement work will keep the gas supply suspended for 18 hours in Savar, Ashulia, Hemayetpur and surrounding areas from Sunday night. The shutdown will start at 11 pm Sunday and will last until 5 pm Monday, and will affect homes, businesses and industrial users along the route.
What was said
Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited has said the company will be shut down temporarily for maintenance and pipeline replacement work. The company said the interruption is necessary to perform the work safely and may also result in low pressure in the vicinity of the work during the maintenance window. The shutdown is part of continued infrastructure work in the wider Dhaka-Savar corridor, where gas disruptions periodically hit residential and industrial zones.
Impacted Areas
Suspension will be from both sides of Aminbazar DRS to Nabinagar on the highway. The affected areas include Baliarpur, Hemayetpur, Leather Industrial area, Singair Road, Fulbaria, Nabinagar, Savar municipality, Savar Cantonment, Ashulia Bazar, Gouripur, Kumkumari, Rajashan, Kolma and the adjoining areas. Authorities also cautioned that nearby areas not listed in the shutdown zone may experience low gas pressure.
Why It Matters
An 18-hour outage can have a serious impact on cooking, small businesses and industrial operations in the area. Savar and Ashulia, where household and industrial purposes depend heavily on piped gas, can have their normal lives disturbed by short maintenance breaks.
Normally, such planned shutdowns are announced in advance, so that the users can prepare themselves in time. But the effects often go beyond the main listed locations, and many homes are caught off guard.

Survival Hints
- Cook meals in advance before the shutdown starts.
- Maintain LPG, induction or alternative cooking options if possible.
- Sufficient potable and boiled water for tea or other simple cooking uses.
- Charge your phones, power banks and other necessary devices early on.
- If you have a business, change your hours of operation and notify your customers in advance.
- If you’re near but not inside the zones listed, you’ll probably feel lower pressure.
Such measures can ease the outage, particularly for families who depend entirely on piped gas for cooking.
WHAT TO SEE
The most important is the scheduled start and end time: Sunday at 11 pm to Monday at 5 pm. If repairs are finished early or late, pressure may not stabilise for a period of time after the window.
He said those in Savar, Ashulia and Amin Bazar should expect a full day of disruption and plan accordingly.
