The National University of Bangladesh (NU) effectively implements additional measures for the 4th-year Honours examinations beginning in 2026 to reduce cheating, ensure equal treatment and provide a fair assessment in all affiliated colleges throughout the country.
Stricter Admit Card and Identity Checks
Beginning with the 2026 Honours examinations, students will have to arrive with an original admission ticket issued by NU with additional biometrics verification at the entrance into the examination halls. Any discrepancies found during the verification will result in an automatic disqualification from taking the examination. According to an NU spokesman, “This is the next step for NU to combat the rising trend of cheating in our examinations.”
Digital Submission and No-Phone Policy
All examinations will require that students complete their examinations using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) answer sheets that will contain a QR Code that can be scanned automatically. The use of mobile phones and/or smart watches will not be permitted in the examination halls, and any student found in violation of this rule will be removed from the examination for a period of 2 years. Special arrangements have been made via the NU Student Portal to submit photographic medical certificates for absentee students.

Revised Exam Schedule and Preparation Tips
The 2026 timetable for cluster examinations will have morning slots, which will lower fatigue. All centres must have personal CCTV systems operational by December 2025. Guidelines for students can be downloaded from nu.ac.bd, and students should practise OMR filling and attend orientation sessions before examinations.
Penalties for Violations
First-time offenders receive zero marks and then are subject to expulsion for future offences. NU urges the use of the new helpline 09666-711-111 to report fraud.
These are the 2026 4th Year National University Honours exam guidelines for increased transparency to accommodate the large number of students being added. Don’t forget to check your college’s official website for the circular regarding this information.
