The city’s metro network is nearing completion as the last segment of theDhaka Metro Rail Line 6 is now in an advanced stage. Present Status of Kamlapur Extension
The 1.16km Motijheel–Kamalapur section with one new station at Kamalapur is about 70–73% completed as of early 2026. Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited is implementing the project.
This stage involves complicated engineering works such as elevated tracks, station infrastructure and integration with the existing railway network at Kamalapur, one of the busiest terminals in Dhaka.

When’s the full line opening?
The Line-6 stretch from Uttara-Motijheel is already in operation. The remaining extension should be around the following timeline:
- Opening: January 2027
- Last expected launch: April-May 2027 (after testing and safety approvals)
The schedule includes system integration, trial runs and safety checks before full commercial operations.
What To Expect In Ticket Prices
The fare structure for the whole 21 km route has been fixed already:
- Base fare Tk 5 km.
- Minimum fare: Tk. 20
- Maximum fare Tk 100
Fares are based on distance, and there are no discounted fares for students or special fares at the moment.
