A second document addresses five Major Generals, with movements touching the 17th Infantry Division, the 33rd Infantry Division, the Bangladesh Institute of Research and Command, the National Defence College, the Military Secretary’s Branch, and Army Headquarters.
Among the senior-level changes, Major General Md Sajedur Rahman moves from the Military Secretary’s Branch to a senior directing staff appointment at the National Defence College. Major General Mohammad Aftab Hossain moves from BIRC to become General Officer Commanding of the 17th Infantry Division, while Major General Md Nazim-Ud-Daula moves from the 33rd Infantry Division’s headquarters to become Commandant of BIRC. Major General M Khair Uddin moves from the National Defence College to the Military Secretary’s Branch. Separately, Brigadier General Mohammad Mohtashim Hyder Chowdhury has been ordered to take over as GOC of the 33rd Infantry Division and will be promoted to Major General upon assuming the post.
Changes Touching Military Intelligence
The reshuffle’s second document brings the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence, widely known as DGFI, into sharper focus. Colonel M Shafiqul Rahman moves from DGFI headquarters to an administrative post at Ghatail. In his place, Colonel Syed Farhan Ebne Hafiz moves from the Army Training and Doctrine Command to become Colonel General Staff at DGFI, while Lieutenant Colonel Tanvir Ahmed moves from a similar training command post into the same DGFI role, with promotion to Colonel upon assuming the position.
The reshuffle also extends into air-defence formations, with senior officers exchanging command between an air-defence training establishment and an independent air-defence brigade, and into infantry command, with a further officer taking over the 46th Independent Infantry Brigade.

Major General Mohammad Kaiser Rashid Chowdhury became DGFI’s Director General at that time, replacing Major General Mohammad Jahangir Alam, who was posted to the Foreign Ministry as an ambassador.
