The Bangladesh Meteorological Department just put out a new weather alert. They’re warning that Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, and Khulna will see moderate to heavy rain over the next few days. The monsoon over the Bay of Bengal is picking up strength, so expect thunderstorms and some strong winds, especially near the coast and in nearby inland areas.

A low-pressure system has popped up in the east-central Bay of Bengal. It looks like it’ll turn into a cyclone within the next two or three days. If that happens, it could head straight for Bangladesh’s southern coast, so officials are on high alert. People living in Cox’s Bazar, Bhola, and Barisal should keep an eye on the news and get ready to evacuate if things take a turn for the worse.

Get Ready for Some Weather Swings

People in the south are gearing up for heavy rain, while folks up north should get ready for cooler days—temperatures will hover between 27°C and 31°C. Dhaka’s going to feel muggy, too, since humidity’s creeping up and making everything feel a bit warmer than the numbers say. On top of that, meteorologists say all this rain could trigger flooding in some of the lower-lying spots.

Authorities Are On Standby

The Ministry of Disaster Management isn’t wasting any time. They’ve told coastal district officials to get emergency teams ready. Fishermen have been told to stay off the deep sea for now, and ports at Chattogram, Mongla, and Payra are all flying local warning signals.

What You Should Do

Stay tuned to official weather updates—don’t just trust what pops up on social media. If the rain gets really heavy or flooding starts, head to a safe shelter and make sure you’ve got essentials on hand. The next three days matter most for tracking the cyclone’s path and strength. Right now, Bangladesh is on high alert, and the authorities are moving fast to keep everyone safe.
