Long lines for gas have been a daily problem for bikers all over Bangladesh, and they can last for hours. But the Fuel Pass App is changing how that works. The government started this QR-code-based system that lets registered riders get faster refills at certain gas stations. In many cases, this can cut waiting time by up to two hours or more.
How the Fuel Pass App Really Works
Riders will sign up using the app by entering their bicycle information & verification. Once verified, riders will receive a unique QR Code associated with their bicycle that the gas station attendant will scan at each of the participating gas stations. The system will then show how much fuel is available to each rider without the need for a manual check or having to register again – this will create a quick and easy process for all riders to reduce long wait times and time to serve customers.
Real Time Savings for People Who Ride Every Day
A lot of bikers can tell the difference. Before the app came out, it wasn’t uncommon to wait 4 to 5 hours for gas. Registered users now say they get refills in as little as 1–2 hours, or even faster.
The main reason? Faster checks and less abuse. Because every transaction is tracked digitally, there has been a big drop in hoarding and repeat entries in the queue. Because of this, lines move more quickly.
Why users of apps come first
The system also helps registered users in real life. Bikers can use the app to buy gas worth up to Tk 1,200 at a time. On the other hand, people who don’t use apps are usually only able to get around Tk 500.
This means that people who use the app don’t have to wait in line as often because they can fill up for two to three days at a time. Fewer repeat visits naturally ease congestion, which indirectly gives priority access to those who are using the system.

Growing in Cities and Districts
What began as a small test project in Dhaka, at stations like Trust Tejgaon and Sonar Bangla Asadgate, has grown a lot since then. The app is now being used at more than 18 stations in Dhaka and in a few places in districts like Khulna and Chittagong.
Authorities say that lines are already shorter at many stores. More and more bikers are using the system, which is making people want to make it available all over the country.
The Impact of Fuel Management on the Gas Management Process
The app assists in optimising the process of distributing fuel and reducing the time associated with this process. Digitalising the process gives authorities visibility into how it is being used, mitigates fraud, and ensures equitable access for all users. For riders, they now have more time available to ride and an easier process to obtain fuel.
Advancing the Ability to Easily Refuel
While the Fuel Pass App will not eliminate fuel lines immediately, it does appear that it has positively impacted the motorcycle community. This small digital advancement has contributed to relieving many motorcyclists of long waits at gas stations to refuel their motorcycles.
