The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has introduced a direct rebate of 25,000 Tk for the taxpayers who will file their income tax return within the deadline. The move is part of a wider plan to digitalise tax compliance and encourage timely submissions across Bangladesh.
Who can get the BDT 25,000 rebate?
This rebate is available to individual taxpayers with taxable income who file their annual income tax return before the prescribed deadline. The facility will be available for the salaried people, self-employed professionals and business owners who file their e-filing through the NBR’s online portal at etaxnbr.gov.bd before the deadline.
What are the new deadlines?
The new arrangement leaves the normal income tax filing deadline unchanged at 30 November each year. Taxpayers who file much earlier than this date — through the online system — are eligible for the early-filing rebate. The NBR has also made it clear that paper-based late submissions will not be eligible for this benefit, further demonstrating the government’s move towards digital-first tax compliance.
How to get your rebate
To avail of the BDT 25,000 rebate, taxpayers need to:
- Register or login at etaxnbr.gov.bd Complete and submit the income tax return form online before the early-filing window closes
- Correctly declare all sources of income, assets and liabilities
- Download the acknowledgement slip generated by the system as a proof of submission
You don’t need to apply separately. Once the NBR confirms your return, the rebate will be automatically applied to your tax bill.
